CURRICULUM
When I was welcomed on board at MUIDS in 2016, the Fine Arts Department was in its first year and there was no solid curriculum yet in place. I was granted the freedom to create and build the materials used to provide students the opportunity to develop their abilities to analyze, understand and express concepts through creative practice.
Now three years later, I have also enjoyed the opportunity to reflect upon and refine those materials. Through hands-on creative practice, the current visual arts curriculum invites students to perceive and record ideas through direct observation, interpretation and expression. Students further develop adeptness at the engagement of the viewer and their audience through the use of appropriate tools of visual communication. All the while enjoying the chance to experiment with new materials and techniques, students learn to innovate and nurture their creativity through the production of works of visual art.
